When it rains, it pours

This picture shows just how good we look, even when Tony and i are dying from a stomach bug. Okay, I'm totally lying. I took this picture of Tony and I a few weeks ago after I was showered and appropriately made up, and he had just finished his lunch. Sue me.

Today did NOT get off to the greatest start. Will started feeling sick on Monday evening; chills, scratchy throat, exhaustion. Not wanting to be outdone, I raised his symptoms with a massive headache that began yesterday afternoon and still hasn't gone away. Tony woke me up at 6 this morning because he was sneezing and coughing in his crib. I got up with him, gave him a breakfast of a fruit and yogurt smoothie (just for the record....bad idea. Very, very bad) while I attempted to combat my throbbing headache with a strong cup of coffee. Didn't work, by the way.

So Will comes home from PT still not feeling all that great. He takes some ibuprofen while Tony blasts Jake and the Neverland Pirates and I attempt to make myself some breakfast. Tony runs into the kitchen and spits up a little. He started fussing, so I pulled him into my lap and snuggled with him while Will cleaned up the floor. Approximately 30 seconds later...you guessed it. Tony projectile-vomits his yogurt smoothie all over himself, me, Will, and our dining room rug. (Naturally, children have the best aim when it comes to vomit. I'll never forget the time I puked right into my mom's open purse as she was driving my 11-year old self to Milwaukee Children's Hospital).

So the 3 of us are covered in yogurt vomit, which is truly hideous. I'm being polite in my description, for the record. We go upstairs to change clothes and get a screaming Tony cleaned up, and it's about this time my stomach starts doing flip-flops. I shoved Tony into Will's arms, and I made a beeline for the toilet (being an adult with my mad James Bond-like escape skills, I made it) and threw up my breakfast. So. It's a sorry state of affairs in the Tenney household this morning. I'm upstairs on our bed with a still-queasy tummy, and Will and Tony are chilling out downstairs. Whoever cursed my house with the (stomach) plague, I'm sure you had good reason. As a Facebook friend pointed out, at least this madness didn't occur during Thanksgiving week. Right? I have to find the bright side somewhere, so I'm sticking with that.

  1. I'm sorry, but that is funny. You know,it is ok to take turns being sick.. then it simply feels never-ending, not unimaginable hell. In case you wanted to take notes for next time. ;)
