What We Wore Sunday

Parents, I need your help. My 4 1/2 month old still doesn't want to sleep through the night (not even close, I might add. Last night was particularly difficult, as Alessandra woke up 4 times wanting to nurse). So many of my friends with babies have little ones who are younger than Alessandra, and they sleep 12 hour stretches. Tony was sleeping through the night by the time he was her age. I don't know what to do! Anyway, there is a point to this desperate plea for help.

Obviously, I was exhausted after the marathon nursing sessions of last night, and even though my wonderful husband got up with the kiddos this morning and gave me a chance to sleep in until 8:30, I was stumbling around like a zombie. Honestly, I'm impressed that we didn't accidentally put on sweatpants and baggy t-shirts for Mass this morning; that's how tired I was. Fortunately, I managed to scrounge up a few church appropriate outfits for baby girl and I.
On Alessandra: darling little outfit from Goo Goo Gaa Gaa in Brookfield, WI. Gift from Auntie Lisa.

On me: Top and skirt are from NY&Company. I purchased this outfit years ago (seriously, it must have been around 2005) when Will and I were visiting the family in Shreveport. Heels are BCBG.

Both Tony and Alessandra are napping (oh, blissful silence!!), and I'm off to the kitchen to make an apple pie. Because Tony, after months and months of refusing to talk, smiled sweetly at me and said, "Mama make apple pie please!" How in the world can you say no?

  1. You are very generous to make a pie despite how tired you are! I have no useful advice b/c both my kids have been bad sleepers. But . . . you look great in that dress! :-)

    1. Haha! I'll confess, apple pie sounded good to me too (I don't normally just whip up pies out of the blue, so this was definitely a first for me). Thank you! :)

  2. I know it's hard, but comparing one baby to another, even in the same family, just isn't workable and will drive you crazy! However, for my super nurser first child, we read and enjoyed a book called The No Cry Sleep Solution and it really helped.

I love the neckline on your dress!

    1. I think that's very good advice. I've been struggling lately with the whole "but my son slept through the night at this age, why isn't my daughter??" mentality, and it IS making me crazy. I will check out that book; the title sounds very promising. Thanks! :)
