7 Quick Takes-Here We Go Here We Go!

1. Forgive the title. My son has developed a love for the show "Bubble Guppies," and in every episode a giant fish sings a very catchy tune about going outside. Will even made up a dance for it. One of these days I will have our video camera ready....

2. I was deeply saddened to hear of the death of James Gandolfini. The Sopranos is one of my all-time favorite TV series, and I always thought he was an incredible actor. It absolutely breaks my heart that his teenage son was the one who found him. :( Prayers for their family.

3. I don't know why it took me so long to do this, but the other day I told Will to run to Target and buy a $30 kiddie pool for Tony. We put it under our carport so the babies aren't exposed to the steaming Louisiana sun, filled it up with water, and BAM! We have one happy toddler.

4. With my current weight loss project and our upcoming anniversary, I started thinking about our wedding seven years ago. Mainly, would I have done anything differently? The answer...not really, except for the way I looked. I had a beautiful dress, but I was really unhappy with my body. Despite my determination to lose weight before the wedding, I'm pretty sure I actually GAINED weight. It disappoints me that I've had so little willpower for so long.

5. You know you're addicted to Pinterest when 60% of your conversations begin with, "so I found this really cool idea/great recipe/cute outfit on Pinterest." I'm thinking I should start a support group. "Hi, I'm Marisa and I'm addicted to Pinterest." I could be on to something here.

6. Will leaves for LDAC on July 4 (boooo), and honestly I'm dreading it. Not only will he be away from our family for a month, but he won't really be able to have any contact with us except for snail mail. I recently learned that their cell phones are taken away upon arrival, which frankly I think is pretty lame. Fortunately, we have many generous family members who will be staying with us off and on during the month of July, to keep the craziness to a minimum.

7. Opinions needed: would my toddler appreciate a spontaneous trip to the alligator park here in Louisiana, or would I scar him for life? It's hard keeping a 2-year old entertained, and he loves animals, but...yeah. Gators are scary. Also, if anyone wants to chime in with suggestions for keeping Tony busy during the day without destroying the house or waking up Alessandra during nap time, I'm all ears.

  1. We were married about 6.5 years ago, and I have lost some weight since then. Naturally looking back I wish I would've done it before the wedding for all the pics, etc. One good thing though - we're probably two of a handful of people that can say our weight and fitness has improved since we got married! Most people gain weight after saying I do and getting comfortable. lol.

    1. Good for you for losing weight! It definitely isn't easy. But yes, you're right! I think having kids and wanting to provide them with good examples of being active and eating healthy has been a good motivator for me.
